The Husband Episode 8 Review
Emotional Flashbacks
We see so many things that Tae-ju has lost through some flashbacks. Tae-ju’s life was great once when he married Se-yun and led a beautiful life as her husband and a doctor. We also see how much Se-yun has been beside him, so much so that she has even questioned her family during hard times.
We also see how Tae-ju is praised by his colleagues and how he used to spend quiet and calm days with his wife and his late daughter, Hayun. These scenes set a narrative to make us realise that the protagonist is trying his best to get back what’s stolen, not in full but atleast the remaining.

The Medical Conspiracy
We have certain mysteries that link up well in this episode. Tae-ju notices an artificial bone implant’s irregularities and realises something is wrong. When he learns that fetal stem cells were used as samples without consent, it makes him discover how disgusting the research practise has been.
Rather than portraying Dr Ko as a monster, the director gives the most unbelievable reasons to make him look even more stupid. Ko believes that killing some unborn kids won’t hurt, as it is all for research. But the consent? The parents who lost their unborn children? Disgusting.

Kyungae’s Words Finally Make Sense
As Tae-ju sits in detention, he pieces together some information that Kyungae gave. He realises that Dr Ko has used Man-hee and Kyungae’s unborn child for the illegal stem cell research. It has crushed their hopes as their child became a victim of an unethical medical practise.
This revelation fundamentally changes how viewers perceive Man-hee’s motivations. Though his actions, such as kidnapping and torturing, can’t be justified, the story that has led him to this feels sad. He has gone through a personal tragedy, and he chose the wrong way to avenge his unborn child.
Suspense Gives Way to Investigation

This particular episode is slow-paced as it uncovers hidden truths. After Tae-ju is released from custody, he confronts Dr Ha. He believes that Dr Ha might know some truths, as they used to treat Kyungae before.
Rather than appearing as another mastermind, Dr Ha increasingly comes across as someone drowned by guilt as they realise they’ve become entangled in Dr Ko’s horrible research. His fear and hesitation suggest a man trapped by his past decisions. The revelations land like thunder.
Tae-ju’s Motivation Evolves

Tae-ju wanted to leave Se-yun despite his family advising him not to. But he clearly explained to them that he wants to leave her not for his happiness, but to let her have a new one, as she deserves it. However, given the new mysteries are unlocked, Tae-ju decides something else.
He decides to stay beside Se-yun and not let her go, as he wishes to expose the conspiracy. Was even Hayun misused? Well, yes, she was a grown-up child, but what if some unethical medical practise was followed? We’re yet to know.
A Shocking Cliffhanger

We got a strong cliffhanger to kill us for the next week. Just as Tae-ju appears close to uncovering the entire truth, he discovers Dr Ha dead from what appears to be a potassium chloride injection. Oh no! The only person who could’ve helped him reveal the secrets is now dead by a very unexpected death. This raises new questions about who is truly orchestrating the conspiracy.
Has Dr Ko begun eliminating anyone who could expose him? Or does someone even more powerful remain hidden behind the scenes? This uncertainty helps the series stay prominent as viewers are in dire need of the final answer.
Final Thoughts
Episode 8 was slow-paced and had its great revelations. The series immediately moved on to a conspiracy drama from a kidnapping thriller. Initially, we saw a husband trying to save his wife, but now we see a doctor trying to find the truth behind the complexities.

The performances continue to excel as the actors are really doing well on their part. The episode succeeds in keeping the viewers hooked for the next week as they dropped a good cliffhanger, which wasn’t much expected. So kudos to that. With long-buried truths finally emerging and key players beginning to fall, The Husband has entered its final stages of truth.
