Tagusari Bros Episode 8 Review: We got the culprit, but it was not the one we expected at all. This episode just went ahead and threw a curveball at us.

Tagusari Bros Episode 8 Review

What do the brothers find?
The brothers find lots of information in the notebook. One of them is that their father was involved in some really shady business. It has to do with d*ug s*uggling and a lot of illicit manufacturing. Police officers were also involved in this. This is why Koike comes to their house and blackmails them into surrendering the notebook along with their laptop. He also tells the brothers not to investigate anything anymore. This further proves that the mystery behind their parent’s death runs deeper than the brothers think.
What was Mogi’s role in the beginning?
Mogi wanted to help Makoto and Minoru, which became an issue for him. His mother lost her job because Fumi found out about Mogi’s true loyalty. Other than that, we also see that Sadao had deep ties with the gangsters, who were running the illegal business in the past.

Do we get a slight hint of romance in this episode?
Even though this series has nothing to do with romance, we most likely did step into it in a very mild manner in this particular episode. Kudo researched Makoto’s past and learned about the kinds of things he and his brother had to face. Perhaps, she saw a glimpse of her own traumatic past within Makoto. This gave her the courage to finally ask him out directly for a drink. Though Makoto initially plans to reject her, he finally agrees, and she even jokingly tells him he will be the one to pay.
What happens when Makoto confronts Koike?
Makoto brings Koike to the terrace and directly asks what he was doing with his partner with the gang. Rather than giving a straight-cut answer, he just deflects the question and warns Makoto not to dig any deeper than he already did. Later, we see Koike going to his former superior and providing the notebook to him. He also states that the case from all those years ago has not closed yet.

What was Mogi’s situation in the end?
The twist came unexpectedly in this episode with the involvement of Mogi in the murder. Previously, there was a very strong alibi that he got involved in the factory fire, which is why he had no connection to Makoto and Minoru’s parents’ deaths. However, that theory is debunked here, and it becomes apparent that Mogi is the one who was the murderer all along. This completely breaks Minoru, who had always been very close to Mogi and saw him as more of a parent figure. Mogi also realises that the brothers know about him, and he steals the gun to bring it to Fumi.
Was Mogi actually the culprit?
There is a huge confusion whether Mogi was actually the main culprit because towards the end, something very unlikely happens. There is a high chance that even though Mogi might be the one who killed Makoto and Minoru’s parents, he was not the main mastermind.

What worked and what did not work?
The ending was very good as it showcased just how emotionally vulnerable the brothers were. They had believed in Mogi their entire lives, and now they were suddenly learning he might be the very person they had been hunting all along. They no longer knew what was true.
