After earning a ton of money through the task in episode 7, Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 8 showcases the aftermath of earning so much money and the ways the contestants lose almost all of it! Forcing disruptions across the board, the eighth episode reminds viewers that it is, in the end, a competitive and strategic game wherein contestants have to make some difficult choices but also balance it with self-preservation, which was surprisingly lacking here. With Shilpa Shinde’s arrival, too, things get shaken up a bit, as she brings a storm of discontent among the group!
Full of drama, for once conflict arises thanks to the game’s design instead of people picking fights among one another for no reason.

Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 8 Review
A Brilliant Bidding Twist Puts Survival Above Comfort
While one would expect to feel relief this week thanks to the brilliant performances from everyone in episode 7, the game brings forth some mental challenges that make the contestants choose between self-preservation and letting their intrusive thoughts win. Of course, it’s the latter that comes out winning in the end, as Ritesh privately asks the contestants to bid the ration money to save themselves for the week. The three highest bidders would be saved, but no two bids can be the same. In the end, Akanksha Chaudhary, Pamela Serena and Shivangi Joshi are safe, but it comes at a huge cost to the fund, leaving less than ₹2 lakhs.

However, for viewers, it’s a smart twist as it forces contestants to think strategically. Will they save themselves from the hassle of last day’s taxing questions and the looming threat of going home, or will they take the money that is meant to feed everyone for a week? Of course, everyone chooses themselves over others.
Shilpa Shinde Wastes No Time Making Her Presence Felt
Another notable twist this episode has been Shilpa Shinde’s arrival. Shinde has been making headlines for falsely accusing her Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain producer Sanjay Kohli of sexual harassment in 2016, which she just now confessed, and so her arrival at the house makes sense. From the outset, she makes her presence felt by making bold accusations, using a rather harsh tone with everyone and just spewing unnecessary hate for no apparent reason.

Viewers will find themselves confused with some of the points she makes, and, in a hilarious moment, she and Yogesh get into a spat at night wherein she constantly tells him that he has to listen to her and he refuses. It’s so confusing and unnecessary that it’s funny. Shinde’s unhinged energy is equal parts terrifying and hilarious. It’s hard to understand what she will do next.
The Second Chargesheet Makes Every Rupee Matter
Farah Khan returns in this episode with the second Chargesheet, and the three safe women, along with Shinde, who is automatically safe this week, go in to decide who will be at risk this week. However, the final twist arrives when they realise that they have to “buy” whomever they want to save, putting a hefty price tag on each of their friends. And the money will, of course, be deducted from their ration funds for the week.

After some deliberation, the ones who are left unsafe for the week turn out to be Shreya Kalra, Riyaz Aly, Ram Kapoor, Madhuri Jain Grover and Sunita Ahuja. However, Shinde is given a special advantage – she can choose to save someone unsafe and replace them with someone on the safe side. While everyone expects her to choose Kalra, whom she has gotten somewhat close to in the house, she eventually chooses Sunita ji, who has been begging everyone to let her go home. The choice comes as a shock for the latter, who can’t believe that her wish wasn’t fulfilled.
Rather than relying on random nominations, the game does a good job of letting strategy dictate the outcome, which also sets up the consequences for future episodes.
The Biggest Consequence Has Yet to Arrive

On that note, only ₹88,417 is left in the money pot after the Chargesheet is filed, leaving nothing for the contestants to go off on after saving themselves and their friends. The promo for the next episode has already made it clear that there’s going to be discontent among the group because of it, obviously. Considering some of the contestants are safe and some aren’t, and no one gets food, there’s bound to be a huge spectacle among them. The inevitable fallout and Shinde’s antics promise more drama in future episodes, but we are yet to determine whether it will be entertaining or repetitive!
Final Verdict

Lock Upp Episode 8 had a lot happening throughout the runtime, and with none of the contestants thinking ahead and only relying on what they can get in the moment, it’s about to get very difficult and bring in a storm of fights among the contestants. In the end, it’s strategy and intelligent game design that make reality TV entertaining, not emotional outbursts that don’t make sense half of the time. I am looking forward to watching how the dynamics change after Shinde’s arrival, considering she seems to dislike everyone in general. It’s the energy that we desperately need and also fear for the house!
