Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 11 Review: Emotional Conversations Take Priority as the House Continues to Fracture

Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 11 continues to be explosive after the events of Episode 10 and is dominated by big feelings and extreme overreactions from all sides. Instead of introducing some major twist or a task, the episode is mostly dominated by a surprise visitor meant to grab eyeballs, highlighting the consequences of a recent explosive revelation both inside and outside the show.

It’s not an action-packed episode, and neither is it, unfortunately, reflective in any way, as people just keep on screaming instead of using some interesting gameplay to best their competitors. It’s a familiar pattern that the episode has set up over the course of 10 episodes and is mostly about who can scream the loudest in the room.

Gaurav Khanna’s Visit Dominates the Episode

Most of the episode is spent focusing on Akanksha Chamola’s husband, Gaurav Khanna’s visit to the jail, as everyone is left surprised. Khanna and Chamola have a heart-to-heart about her recent revelations surrounding their divorce and her sexuality. Khanna mentions that he’s disappointed that such a sensitive matter was exposed before he was ready, but overall, the conversation is lighthearted as he continues to root for her and asks her to be strong and win the game. There are some lighter moments of banter between the two, but overall, it’s not a productive watch as it doesn’t reveal anything more than we already know.

Thankfully, however, the interaction isn’t a dramatic or over-the-top emotional moment as Khanna’s demeanour remains unserious throughout. In the end, it’s a heartfelt conversation, but it leaves Chamola overcome with emotion.

Food Once Again Becomes the Biggest Source of Conflict

As anyone could’ve predicted in the beginning, the episode showcases how a shortage of food can result in the inmates turning on one another instantly. One of the biggest arguments in the house takes place when Shreya Kalra orders a premium meal for Shilpa Shinde, which the other contestants are unhappy about. Although they protest, Kalra refuses to listen to them, resulting in Yogesh stealing the premium plate in retaliation. This happens twice, and Kalra, Shinde and Madhuri ji decide to keep quiet and let the situation unfold.

At this point, the ration storyline is the defining point of the show as the inmates try to one-up each other in how they handle this lack of funds. While the consequence makes sense and is effective for previous decisions, the arguments are becoming quite nasty. Viewers will find themselves feeling rather moved at times as the contestants sob over being screamed at. But eventually, everyone disrespects everyone else, so it’s difficult to root for one over the other.

House Divisions Continue to Deepen

However, the lack of food opens a whole can of worms about how these contestants behave with each other in general and showcases the general discord among these personalities. While Kalra cries about the others bullying her, she, Shinde and Madhuri ji corner Sufi in the bathroom and make fun of him taking medications, which sounds like such a low blow and comes out of the blue. It’s quite uncomfortable and results in the entire house descending on the three, especially Kalra, which results in her sobbing in the end. Madhuri ji tries to calm the situation down, but by then things have escalated far too much.

Viewers have to sometimes wonder whether prolonged stress and limited resources are bringing out the worst in these people or whether it’s simply bringing out the truth. With the way things are going, it’s hard to root for anyone in particular at this point as the cracks begin to slowly form.

Akanksha Chaudhary Ends the Episode on a High Note

In a surprising turn of events, though, a new announcement is made in this episode which declares Akanksha Chaudhary as the fan-favourite of the week, highlighting how much her fans love and adore her. As a result, she is given a dress that she can wear for 2 hours and celebrate her win and the entire house roots for her.

It’s a rare uplifting moment amid the tense atmosphere, especially since it comes from fans. Coming out of, and then being followed by, extremely nasty fights, this moment serves as a pick-me-up for the contestants as they have something more to look forward to. It highlights that, despite what Farah Khan and Ritesh Deshmukh are about to say about her in the upcoming episode, fans have a different perception of their favourite personalities and will root for them through thick and thin.

Final Verdict

In the end, Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 11 is an enjoyable episode that highlights the highs and lows inside the house. While the shocking confrontation between Kalra and Chaudhary is going to find an interesting outcome in episode 12, this episode highlights how food shortages can bring out the worst in people. While bullying someone is terrible, especially when it’s 12 against 3, it’s also to be noted that Kalra doesn’t follow what she preaches and was only too eager to bully Sufi when she had the chance. It’s an interesting push and pull, one that is getting very boring at this point.
