Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 10 Review
A Long-Running Rivalry Finally Boils Over
The central focus of this episode is clearly the unnecessary and extremely over-the-top altercation between Akanksha Chaudhary and Shreya Kalra. As the time for lunch orders rolls around, the two women engage in a nasty fight after Chaudhary tries to stop Kalra from ordering food for her, and the latter stops her from touching the screen. Allegedly, Kalra accidentally scratches Chaudhary’s face, which pushes her over the edge in rage. The resulting fight goes on for the entirety of the episode, and Chaudhary loses all sense of control and boundaries and not only insults Kalra, but several other people. Eventually, she bumps water on Kalra and Madhuri’s beds.

While Chaudhary’s frustration and emotions are clear on her face, it’s interesting to see how easily she gets triggered and loses all sense of control. Kalra, on the other hand, plays it smartly and doesn’t react beyond a few words. This clearly shifts the house’s allegiance a bit as they see a different side of Chaudhary’s. It’s uncertain where the house stands after this, but most of the contestants remain unhappy with Chaudhary’s blow-up and later actions, especially the words that come out of her mouth.
In a rather sweet gesture, however, Yogesh Rawat tries to de-escalate the situation by exchanging his own bed with that of Madhuri’s, even apologising to the latter on Akanksha’s behalf. The gesture of goodwill is great optics, especially when he gently tells her off for not having control over her actions when they are alone. This provides one of the episode’s more grounded moments, demonstrating that not every conflict needs to be escalated into an argument.

The situation goes to show that Chaudhary might still be hung up on the entire Splitsvilla debacle, wherein she was allegedly attacked by Diksha Pawar and Ruru Thakur.
The Survival Task Keeps the Competition Moving

Unnecessary fights aside, the series also provides an entertaining task that might just get lost amidst the noise. The task has the unsafe contestants, including Shreya, Madhuri, Ram, Varun and Riyaz, flipping boxes to keep their names on top for 10 minutes. The player whose name is on top the most number of times at the end wins. In a rather interesting strategic move, Shreya opts to save Madhuri, and the two of them flip boxes, making sure that Madhuri’s name comes up the most. In the midst of the adrenaline, Riyaz and Varun end up flipping each other’s boxes, negating each other’s progress.
Madhuri eventually wins thanks to Shreya, and their plan proves to work. Shreya seemingly has some grand plan in the end that justifies not saving herself, but we are yet to determine what that is.
Pamela Serena Continues to Be the Season’s Bright Spot

Beyond the tension and the altercations, the episode’s lighter moments are brought to the audience by Pamala Serena, who makes the house laugh with her antics. Whether it be pranking Varun with a bra or poking fun at other contestants by imitating them, she has got to be the most entertaining contestant of the season.
Thankfully, these moments bring a welcome contrast to the show and highlight a reason why we are watching it. Their friendly teasing feels natural, although it’s not hard to remember a time when Pamala was talking behind Varun’s back.
Final Verdict

The episode ends up being just another nasty showcase of children who can’t control their anger and think with their brains. There’s no strategy that would smartly bring down their opponents in sight; it’s just a lot of screaming and nasty words being thrown around. While audiences wait to see a glimmer of brains amid the brawl, some contestants continue to be hypocrites after losing their marbles in the last episode. But, then again, such is the name of the game, I guess.
