The Main Romance Begins to Lose Focus
Yi-jae and Soo-bin are the main leads, but somehow, they are both overshadowed by the second lead couple. We see scenes teasing some truths surrounding Yi-jae’s past accident and Soo-bin’s complicated family life; however, it only raises questions and does not give answers. Soo-bin’s abusive father becomes a mystery plot because it’s confusing as to why he acts so rude. Why was he not held accountable all these years?
Moreover, Soo-bin is already aware of Yi-jae’s accident, so the emotional aspect is lost. Somehow, the connection between the second leads, Yu-geon and Ha-na seem more powerful. Their storyline seems more effective, which makes their chemistry raw and energetic. Their romance feels more relatable and worth shipping.
Too Many Misunderstandings
At this point, it feels like the emotional storytelling is going overboard. Yes, couples do get misunderstandings, but between Yi-jae and Soo-bin, that is all that exists. The romance isn’t progressing through honest communication as the script leans heavily on misunderstandings and guilt.
Yes, this complexity is needed to make their reunion feel tight, but this is getting overboard. Too much at this point. The warmth of the series seems like it is getting stripped off.
The Supporting Couples Continue to Steal the Show
Yes, as we said before, Ha-na and Yu-geon’s relationship seems to be more balanced. Their chemistry continues to feel effortless, with every interaction feeling charming. The second leads are grabbing more attention with their skills as their plot seems entertaining.
That said, some of their conflict also feels like it has credibility. Some logic is in those moments. Say, Yu-geon’s criticism of Ha-na for not defending herself during the barbecue incident feels unfair. Especially when she was put in a hard situation. However, it has more logic and credibility. Nevertheless, the emotional connection between Yu-geon and Ha-na remains one of the drama’s iconic strengths. No wonder why viewers love their parts more than the central romance.
Performances and Cinematography
Cast seem to be elevating the series at this point. The lead actors and the supporting actors are both ensuring that even if the writing feels weak, their skills make it feel watchable. The way the cast proceeds to enact the scenes with precision feels entertaining. However, again, in this particular episode, Yu-geon and Ha-na’s roles seem to win. They both bring warmth and the energy which we expected from the lead couple.
Yes, the cinematography has to be appreciated. They’ve created a soft and cinematic atmosphere, making the series feel visually beautiful. The visual storytelling feels elegant, making the series give an early Kdrama vibe, like those that came in 2016. When people mentioned the year 2026 is the new 2016, it didn’t feel like a lie because almost every Kdrama visuals and storylines feel nostalgic.
Final Thoughts
Despite the four episodes building the series quite well, this particular episode seems to have added some minus points. The central romance struggles as we have many unanswered questions and misunderstandings that seem to make the main couple feel too much to handle.
However, strong performances, good direction, and the supporting couples’ romances seem to make the drama engaging. Hopefully, the series quickly simplifies the melodrama and actually focuses on the needed aspects and connects the couple instead of dragging their bond with conflict after conflict.
