Agent Kim Reactivated Episode 5 Review
A Father’s Worst Nightmare
We have a flashback right in the beginning, spanning back to 2014. Kim and Min-ji move into their new home. When Min-ji goes out to wander in the neighbourhood, she gets trapped inside a welfare centre. This is where Kim’s protective instinct started. When he finds her, he breaks down in tears because we can see she’s all he’s got. This flashback lays a foundation to show why Kim is fighting so vigorously to find his daughter. I mean, every dads would do the same, but with this flashback, we see a different side of Kim.

Kim is a Fighter
After the flashback, the pacing shoots up. We see Golden Tooth finding Min-ji, the bad guys caving inside, cars getting crashed, punches flying and bodies lying on the floor. Agent Kim is literally the most terrifying operative in the series.
The fight choreography continues to impress me as it feels raw, tough and not polished. Every punch looks so cool and painful, making the character stand out. He truly is an ace. Agent Kim isn’t a superhero, but a dad who is super angry, and his punches would really put people to sleep.
The Truth Behind Older 66

One of the episode’s biggest revelations comes through an emotional flashback. We learn the relationship between Older 66 and Kim. These two were great friends, and they shared a dream of having freedom, reuniting with their families and living their best time. But tragedy happens.
The operation that cost Older 66 his life is particularly heartbreaking. Despite Kim desperately trying to save him, Older 66 passes away. But he asks Kim to live for him. This twist changes the viewer’s perspective on Younger 66’s hatred towards Kim. He apparently doesn’t know the truth and seems to be thinking Kim is the villain. The later revelation that Kim himself was betrayed by his own North Korean superior shows how painful his life was, too. Kim isn’t the villain but a victim.
Min-ji Proves She’s Her Father’s Daughter

If you’re wondering why Min-ji’s been dormant, she no longer is. Min-ji has her own moments in this episode. Despite being trapped inside the freezing cold storage, she never completely gives in to fear. She distracts Golden Teeth, locks him in the freezer and rushes to escape.
Even after enduring exhaustion, freezing temperatures and constant running, she continues thinking clearly enough to leave a handwritten apology for her father. Those small moments say a lot about her character. She’s scared, but she’s resourceful. She truly is her dad’s daughter.
Everyone is Chasing the Same Prize
We have so many groups with different motives, but all are coming to the common spot. Kim is searching for his daughter. Mr Ju wants to eliminate his loose ends. Golden Teeth is trying to survive, and Han-su and Jin-cheol are barely making it. Meanwhile, the agents are realising Kim’s motives instead of hating him. Every storyline feels fresh and active to watch.

Another Cliffhanger
Just when it seems Kim is finally getting closer, the episode delivers one last cruel twist. Kim has already narrowly missed Min-ji a lot of times. When he is super close to finding his child, she unknowingly ends up inside Mr Ju’s vehicle. He is the man who is responsible for all the problems, and the girl ends up right there. How unfortunate.
After narrowly missing Min-ji several times, she unknowingly ends up inside Mr Ju’s vehicle—the very man responsible for much of the chaos unfolding around her.
Wrap-up
Episode 5 has one of the best pacing. From fights to slow flashbacks, we see a blend of action and emotional storytelling. Beneath every fight scene, car chase and conspiracy lies the simple story of a father who refuses to give up on his daughter.
With the hunt entering its most dangerous phase yet, the series has perfectly set the stage for the next episode. Will Min-ji escape from Mr Ju? Let’s find out.
