Synopsis
Wu Buwei, an architect, is in the middle of a project bidding when she receives an urgent call from her mother, Lin Xiumei, saying that her father, Wu Pingwei, is seriously ill and that the Wu children must return home as soon as possible.
The eldest son, Wu Buyu, returned from studying abroad but hasn’t seen the family in ten years. The twins, Wu Bulao, have a strained relationship with their mother. Wu Buwei uses the family estate as leverage to get her siblings to come home quickly.
However, the Wu children have long held grudges over their parents’ “favoritism”, and conflicts arise when they reunite.
This return home gradually reveals the struggles each sibling faces: Buwei is torn between pursuing her career far away or staying to care for her aging parents; Buyu’s company is in crisis and needs funds, but he can’t bring himself to ask his parents due to old resentments; Bulao’s husband is deeply in debt, and she puts on a brave face to keep her mother from finding out.
After their father wakes up from surgery, he suffers from dementia. The three siblings work together to recreate warm moments from the past for him, and in the process, begin to heal old family wounds.
After their father passes away, Buwei learns that their parents’ “favoritism” was actually a way to protect a secret about bloodline. She works hard to dissolve the family’s estrangement and bring her siblings back together.
In the end, their mother, Xiumei, who had been hiding her own serious illness, passes away peacefully. The three siblings rediscover their paths for the next chapter of their lives—though they may be far apart, home will always be in their hearts.
