Bangkok is not a city that makes it easy to stop. Even sitting in a park here tends to come with a background layer of notifications, music, and the low-level pressure to be doing something productive with the time. Do F***ing Nothing EP.2 is built around the deliberate rejection of all of that.

The event returns to the central amphitheatre at Benchakitti Park on August 1, 2026, from 5pm to 6pm. It is free to attend. The format is exactly what it says: participants spend 30 minutes doing nothing, in whatever way feels right to them, without phones, books, music, or conversation.

What actually happens at Do F***ing Nothing EP.2

At 5pm, a 30-minute countdown begins. Within that window, you can sit, lie down, daydream, meditate, or stare into the middle distance. The one requirement is that you do not disturb other park visitors.

The organisers are clear that this is not a competition, a challenge, or a structured activity. There is no right way to do it. The point is simply to take a short break from the noise and the pressure to always be doing something, in a city where that pressure is difficult to escape.

After the 30 minutes, participants can leave quietly or stay and join small discussion groups of three to five people to talk about why they came and what the experience felt like. Whether you engage with that part is entirely optional.

What to bring and when to arrive

Participants are encouraged to arrive 15 to 30 minutes early to find a good spot before the countdown begins. Bring a mat, a camping chair, an umbrella, and water. The organisers recommend preparing for heat, rain, large crowds, and the possibility of travel delays getting to the park.

Benchakitti Park sits in the Sukhumvit area near MRT Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, making it straightforward to reach from most parts of central Bangkok. The park has become one of the city’s most popular spots for outdoor activities, with cycling tracks, a lake, and open green space that works well for exactly this kind of low-key afternoon.

A note on privacy

Following feedback from the first event, the organisers have asked both attendees and media to respect privacy when taking photographs. They recommend avoiding identifiable images of others without consent. Anyone who does not want to be photographed is encouraged to wear a red ribbon on their arm. A crossed-arms gesture can also be used to communicate the same preference directly to photographers.

The Sit Squad initiative

The event has also introduced a new element called Sit Squad, which invites interested participants to form smaller sub-groups of five to ten people and organise their own sit-in-silence sessions independently, at different dates, times, and locations, without waiting for another large-scale event.

Groups can coordinate through the event’s OpenChat. The idea is for smaller versions of the same concept to develop organically across the city, with anyone able to set up a session and invite others.

Why this kind of event keeps returning

The first edition of Do F***ing Nothing drew enough interest to justify a second one, which says something about how many people in Bangkok are genuinely looking for a version of this. The format is almost comically simple: show up, sit down, do not do anything for half an hour, then leave. But in a city built around constant stimulation, that simplicity is the entire point.

Bangkok has no shortage of things to do, and the city’s events calendar through the rest of 2026 reflects that. Do F***ing Nothing sits at the opposite end of that spectrum, and it is free.
