The Thai Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rain in 57 provinces today. The North, Northeast and South (west coast) are hit hardest. Very heavy rain is possible in Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Loei, Nong Khai, Phang Nga and Ranong. Bangkok faces fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rain.
The department warns of flash floods, overflows and landslides near waterways and foothills. A monsoon trough lies across the North and Northeast. A strengthening southwest monsoon covers the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf.
Bangkok
The capital sees fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rain today. Lows of 24-26°C and highs of 33-35°C are expected. Winds are southwesterly at 10 to 25km/h.
North
Fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rain affect Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao and Sukhothai. Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun also face heavy rain. Very heavy rain is possible in Nan, Phrae and Uttaradit. Lows of 22-27°C and highs of 30-36°C are expected, with variable winds of 10 to 20km/h.
Northeast
Fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rain hit Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Udon Thani and Sakon Nakhon. Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen and Kalasin face the same conditions. Mukdahan, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram and Ubon Ratchathani are also affected. Very heavy rain is possible in Loei and Nong Khai. Lows of 22-25°C and highs of 29-35°C are expected, with southwesterly winds of 10 to 20km/h.
Central
Fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rain cover Nakhon Sawan, Chai Nat, Lop Buri, Saraburi and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Songkhram and Samut Sakhon face the same conditions. Lows of 23-25°C and highs of 33-36°C are expected, with southwesterly winds of 10 to 25km/h.
East
Fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rain affect Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat. Lows of 23-27°C and highs of 31-34°C are expected, with southwesterly winds of 20 to 35km/h. Waves reach about 2 metres, rising above 2 metres in thundershowers.
South (east coast)
Scattered thundershowers with isolated heavy rain affect Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Songkhla. Lows of 21-24°C and highs of 32-35°C are expected, with southwesterly winds of 15 to 35km/h. Waves run 1-2 metres, reaching above 2 metres in thundershowers.
South (west coast)
Fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rain affect Phuket, Krabi and Trang. Very heavy rain is possible in Ranong and Phang Nga. Lows of 23-26°C and highs of 28-33°C are expected, with southwesterly winds of 20 to 40km/h. Waves reach 2-3 metres, above 3 metres in thundershowers from Phuket upward. From Krabi downward, waves reach about 2 metres, above 2 metres in thundershowers.
Warnings
The department urges residents near waterways, foothills and lowlands to watch for flash floods, overflows and landslides. All ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should proceed with caution and steer clear of thundershowers. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should remain ashore through 20 September 2026.
