MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Robin Padilla said on Friday said he no longer has plans to run for public office in the 2028 National Elections.
This latest statement contradicts his previous pronouncement that he would be open to be Vice President Sara Duterte’s running mate.
Padilla expressed his latest decision in a social media post, citing the age of his children.
“I have no plans to run for politics. My children are still young, and a quiet Islamic life is what I dream and aspire to have,” Padilla said in his post.
Though he expressed gratitude to those pushing him to run, Padilla highlighted that it is “obvious, he does not fit in this world.”

“Revolutionaries do not sit on thrones; they tear them down,” he said.
Instead, Padilla gave a list of persons who he thinks can run as vice president, alongside Duterte’s presidential bid.
The senator named Senate minority leader Alan Peter Cayetano, Sens. Imee Marcos, Christopher “Bong” Go, Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, Rodante Marcoleta and former President Rodrigo Duterte’s legal counsel and spokesperson Salvador Panelo.
“They are the ones I want you to choose to be Inday Sara’s tandem,” he added. /apl
