Shebeshxt now faces 20 charges after the state added 11 more counts to his criminal case

Popular Lekompo musician Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, popularly known as Shebeshxt, is facing further legal troubles after additional charges were added to his criminal case.

On Friday, 15 May 2026, the state added 11 more charges against the musician, bringing the total number of charges he faces to 20.

The charges include assault, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, attempted murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and the unlawful discharge of a firearm.

Among the new charges added in court on Friday is robbery with aggravating circumstances.

The popular musician has been in custody since last year, while many of his supporters continue hoping for his release.

Chauke briefly appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Friday, where the additional charges were formally presented.

Meanwhile, his lawyer told the media that the defence intends approaching the High Court to appeal the dismissal of Chauke’s third bail application after the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court denied him bail on 30 April 2026.

He remains behind bars.
