American actress and musician Zendaya Coleman will not attend the 2026 Met Gala. This marks yet another absence from the event, having attended only seven times since 2015.
ZENDAYA WILL NOT ATTEND THIS YEAR’S MET GALA
According to Elle, the Oakland-born star has a lot on her plate at the moment. She is therefore taking a break after promoting her latest projects, The Drama and Euphoria season 3, a few weeks ago.
The event, which celebrates fashion and raises funds for the museum’s exhibitions, takes place on 4 May at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the theme is costume art.
Zendaya, who is reportedly married, also has two films premiering in July 2026: The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Robert Pattinson, who stars alongside Zendaya in The Drama, shared his experience of working with her:
“We had a scene together that was driving me crazy. I was desperately looking for its meaning, writing pages and pages of textual analysis,” he said.
“I ended up calling Zendaya the night before shooting the scene. I shared my doubts with her, I spoke for two hours, and after a while, very calmly, she made me understand that the line just said what it meant to say, that there was no hidden meaning,” he added.

Under the “tailored for you” theme, Zendaya rocked a white Louis Vuitton power suit complete with a floppy hat at the Met Gala in 2025.
Fans and fashion enthusiasts alike loved her interpretation of the theme, with The Hollywood Reporter declaring, “Zendaya has always aced the assignment at the Met Gala.”

DEBUT LOOK AT THE MET GALA IN 2015
In 2015, Zendaya debuted at the Met Gala at age 18, wearing a beautifully designed dress by Fausto Puglisi paired with statement jewellery.
In an interview with Live with Kelly and Mark in 2024, Zendaya recounted her first Met Gala experience:
“I first went when I was 18 years old. It was such an exciting and new experience, but still terrifying, you know? Going up the steps, it’s very daunting,” she explained.
