A new reality show, Mageza Wants a Wife, is set to debut on Mzansi Magic on Friday, 1 May at 8PM.
The show follows 26-year-old Kelebogile, a savvy Soweto taxi driver, on his quest to find true love. It is set against the backdrop of township life, hustle culture and deep-rooted community values.
Ten diverse women, known as “oMabebeza”, step into his world, moving between his bustling taxi rank and a luxurious mansion while competing for his attention and heart.
The series offers viewers an intimate look into Kelebogile’s life, from his daily hustle and family guidance to the vibrant culture of kasi living. It presents a heartwarming and unconventional twist on modern dating.

Executive producer Zanele Mauka says the show stands apart from traditional dating formats by stripping away fantasy and focusing on real-life dynamics.
“What sets the show apart is that it strips away the fantasy of dating shows and replaces it with something far more grounded, real responsibilities and real consequences,” says Mauka.
“This is not about fairy-tale love. It is about finding a partner who can truly fit into an existing life, a business and a community.”
Rooted in real kasi life
According to the production team, authenticity was a non-negotiable part of the storytelling.
“We built the show from the ground up in real spaces, taxi ranks, kasi homes, and local hangouts, and allowed the environment to shape the story rather than forcing moments,” says Mauka.
The series also incorporates Kelebogile’s real-life support system, including friends, family, and community voices.
“They are not filtered or scripted. They challenge the women, question intentions, and ultimately influence decisions in a way that feels honest and culturally accurate.”
